I am going to be MIA for the next week to 10 days. I am heading into the last week of classes and finals. After that I have one semester left and I could not be happier!!
I am excited for the summer to begin for a number of reasons:
*I got a sweet internship at Grand Florist. I am going to be a florist for 6 weeks!
*I have to take a math class at Citrus College which is right next to APU-not too far from home for me.
*Jesse and I are going to visit Washington June 4-8! It's my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary and there is going to be a big party! And my mom's birthday is the 9th, so we can have an early celebration!
*Warm weather and many beach days
Well, even though I will be in classes most of the summer, I am trying to see the positive side of it. I am trying to not be as negative because I think that is my default feeling. Like we all have a default face we make..no matter how we feel, we make that face. I am in nonverbal communication this semester..I analyze people all the time. Anyways, I think my default mood is negativity. It wasn't always that way, but I am working on it and through the issues of life.
Other than being knee deep in homework and projects, life is going good!

..too hot in covina..
What happens when the valley is about 95 degrees out?? Well, you head to the beach!!
Jesse and I woke up Sunday morning and were eating breakfast on the (newly redecorated) patio. As we were eating and reading the newspaper, I was staring at the candles we have on the table. They were about ¼ of an inch melted and I knew they would only melt more. Keep in mind that it was only 10:00 am. It was at that moment that I said “Jesse, pack your stuff. We are going to the beach”

Now it is almost a given that the beach is going to be about 10-20 degrees cooler then inland valley were we live. We headed to Huntington Beach for the day and it was gorgeous. It was hot there. I have never been to Huntington when it was hot! I would say it was anywhere between 85-90 there! How crazy!! We just laid out on the beach and I put my toes in the water (it was freezing cold!!) and Jesse swam (he is crazy!).
We then went to dinner at Ruby’s..which is a special place for us because we had our first date there. It is a cute little 50’s diner out on the end of the pier. As we walked out on the pier, we saw a seal swimming around. I mean real marine life, not like the aquarium haha As we waited for our table, Jesse got stung by a bee. He is okay though. Then he told me he overheard some ladies talking about seeing dolphins earlier in the day. I was in disbelief, because I think dolphins only exist in Florida and Cancun! Haha BUT as we were eating dinner, a dolphin started jumping out of the water right near the end of the pier. How amazing! What a perfect end to the day!!!

..going green..
I make a lot of attempts to Go Green on a daily basis. I first step was switching light bulbs. Since my hubby wasn't too big on the idea of switching to the lower watt energy saver bulbs, I switched just one. Hey! It's a start! He thought he would notice a big difference in the lighting and there is not much difference. I say we change more now...we will see what he says about that :) Maybe this weekend...
Next is that we recycle all our cans and bottles. We get a decent amount of money back too. Okay, I say decent but like $5.00 a bag or so. That turns into a mocha for each of us or laundry money. Speaking of laundry, I only use cold water..except for towels and sheets (gotta use hot for those!) Next with water is taking a shorter shower under 5 minutes on a good day and under 7 minutes on a bad day. And I turn the water off when I brush my teeth. Or hey, I brush in the shower, that's always fun!
And lastly my big change is using reusable bags! My hubby listened to me the other day when I was saying I wanted to switch to reusable bags. While he was recruiting at a job fair in Hollywood today, he got me reusable bags from Albertson's. He even stole me an extra one :) I am making him GREEN! He says I am trying to make him into a Washingtonian....well, maybe I am ;)

..puppy mills..
I am a sucker for dogs. I have known this for years but today was a true testament to my love for those 4 legged little creatures.
I watched Oprah.
I cried during Oprah.
I want to adopt a dog.
Her show was on puppy mills and the torture that these dogs have to endure They are just breeding machines. The little female dogs have so many problems. They are constantly pregnant and then nursing. I have yet to have a child but my guess is that nursing changes your body some bit. These poor dogs nurse year around for 5, or 6 or even 10 puppies. All year long! To see the state their little bodies were in made me so sad.
Jesse and I love to go to the pet store and look at all the cute puppies they have there. Many of those puppies are from puppy mills. It breaks me heart. It encourages me to buy from a local shelter though. There are animal shelters all over the place. If dogs are not adopted from the shelter, they are put to sleep. I know that having a purebreed Yorkie or Maltese would be great but what about some cute little mutt who is part Sharpei and something else (my little Mac..RIP) Who could resist this face?? >>>>>>>>
I encourage you to check out shelters before going to the store! You never know what dog you will fall in love with during your visit...

..my apartment..
Have a mentioned that we have a cute apartment? If not, well we do.
We have really made our apartment home..it is so nice to come home to a beautiful apartment everyday! For starters, we received some awesome wedding gifts and those are placed around the apartment. The walls were a beige color when we moved in so it looks great. We have my futon (doctored up so it is comfortable) and a couch with black cover so it matches the futon. A nice entertainment unit, big tv, shelving unit, etc. All this is great but we got a call last week from the Faus Family. They are redecorating their family room and offered us their couch and love seat! So on Saturday we are driving to Murrieta (about an hour away) having dinner with them and getting 2 new pieces of furniture! They are a dark beige color. The apartment is going to look VERY different but we are excited! They are in great condition and free furniture (that is nice) is wonderful as a newlywed!!
I will post before and after pictures on here sometime next week so you can check out the transformation! Jesse's grandma added the thought that since the walls are beige and the couches are similar that I need funky pillows...I agree :)
Jesse's grandpa and grandma were here this weekend visiting us. They flew in Sunday and left Tuesday morning. The reason for their visit was to see us BUT to head out on a 16 day cruise to Hawaii!! I took them to the harbor on Tuesday morning. The reason for the cruise...?? 50th ANNIVERSARY!! How awesome is that?? They are going to Hawaii for their 50th. How many couples can say they, well, made it to 50 years and went on a romantic cruise to Hawaii?? It is quite an accomplishment and a great goal for Jesse and I. They are still very much in love after all these years. They are great role models for us!
Happy 50th Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Irene!!
