..weekend..

Jesse and I are heading to Dana Point this weekend to stay at our friends Jake's aunt and uncle's house. Jake, Anna (his girlfriend), Jesse and I are planning a fun weekend of relaxing! They live right by the beach so we are spending Saturday at the beach soaking up the sun. It has been sooo beautiful this week and I feel very spoiled! I have been wearing capris, flip flops and shorts all week. The weather has been around 80..the other day it was like 87..ridiculous. I think spring is right around the corner down here and I am looking forward to it! I am trying to convince my mom to come visit during my spring break-so if you are reading this mom..please get a ticket and come visit me :) I miss you.

In other news, Jesse is now working in the office instead of on a route delivering chips. He has a little more normal hours. For those who don't know, Jesse works for Frito-Lay and was hired on as a District Sales Leader. The company believes in starting everyone from the absolute bottom and working them up. This way they can know the company completely. Jesse was working insane hours in the beginning. His typical day was 4:30am-7:00pm. Some days he wouldn't get home till 9pm. Then he switched and was working at 3 grocery stores and his hours were then 2:00am-4:00pm. AND now, these are his best hours 5:30am-5:00pm. Kind of crazy but the company works on 12 hour days. Jesse now gets to stay up a little later so now I can actually see him during the week. For awhile there we only saw each other for about 30 minutes a day and then on the weekends. We like this schedule more :) *School still sucks for me and I prefer to not talk about it*

I hope things are going well for all of you who read this. A little update on the two prayer requests I mentioned last week: Last I heard of, the girl that hit the trolley on our campus is still in a coma. She was riding her bike and was going against the traffic with no helmet. As she popped out from between a parked car she lost control and fell straight into the front bumper of the trolley. She was airlifted to USC/LA County hospital and brain surgery was performed immediately. She still needs a TON of prayer. Please send up a prayer for her (Julie), everyone that witnessed it (the trolley was FULL of students), and the trolley driver, Oscar. He was not at fault but can you imagaine the guilt you would live with..??
And as for me...I may have a hernia. I am seeing a surgeon sometime in the next week or so and he can determine more what needs to happen. I am praying that it is a hernia so I can be fixed. If not, then we are back to the drawing board again...lame!

Okay, long post, that is all!

..my professor..

I think if there was an award for most interesting professor, my professor for Persuasion and Attitude Change would win.

This woman is in her early thirties and works at APU teaching Persuasion and then she is a lawyer (her full time job). Sounds simple, maybe interesting-maybe not. BUT it is what she does as a lawyer that is the interesting part. She is an attorney for child sexual abuse cases against members of the clergy. Wow..that right there is intense. She works in Beverly Hills and is an advocate for the hundred of cases brought to trial against members of the clergy who have sexually abused children.

She grew up a Catholic. Can you imagine having to step out of your roots and realize that these things really did happen? That children really were raped, molested, abused by these men..I can't imagine putting aside everything I had learned, been taught, thought I knew, etc and looking at the raw, real details of these people's cases. She is amazing. She is so real and down to earth. She honestly might be the most intelligent woman I have ever encountered. She has a way about her that is not conceited or rude, but simply intelligent (does that make sense..???).

I have my class on Monday nights from 7:30-10:30pm. Time flies in that class and her topics of discussion are great. She showed us a movie trailer last night that was ban from being played in theaters. It is for the documentary "Deliver Us from Evil". It is all about confessions and stories of 2 women who were molested at a young age by a priest (There might be more stories too). We talked about why it was ban from theaters. There is no murder..blood..violence..cursing..so why? Did the truthfulness ban it? It went on to be nominated for an Academy Award...but ban from theaters?

I know what movie I will be getting next on Netflix.....

If you are interested in watching the trailer..here it is http://www.deliverusfromevilthemovie.com/index_flash.php

..oscars..

Now that I live in Southern California I feel I have a confession to make...

..I am in love with the red carpet..

Okay, now that I have made that confession, we can move on to my next statements..

I need an Oscar worthy dress hanging in my closet.
I want to be a seat filler at the Oscars.
I also want bleacher seats one year.
-------------------------------------------------
This weekend we spent the evening hanging out with Corey (Jesse's best friend). He came to visit from Nor Cal. He stayed with us on Friday night. We watched Evan Almighty. That movie is pretty funny, I recommend seeing it. Not sure which one I like better-Evan Almighty or Bruce Almighty..??

The boys went golfing yesterday afternoon and as they were leaving I suggested bringing a jacket because the weather has been a bit off lately down here and quite stormy! Jesse's famous last words, "No, Melissa, we don't need a jacket, we will be fine". I began to laugh to myself about an hour later when it starting to rain and continued to rain for about an hour. That's when I received a text message from Jesse "Famous last words, of course we don't need a jacket!" It must just be woman's intuition :)

Today has been spent finishing wedding thank you notes. I know, I know, it has taken almost 7 months..I had no idea how overwhelming school would be this and last semester. But hey, we have spent time and effort on them. I think people appreciate that more than not receiving a thank you note. School will be living hell again tomorrow..I hate school, have I mentioned that before..?? ;o)
Have a great day and go watch the Oscars!!

..this week..

This week has started out as kind of odd. The reason I say this is because I had 2 classes canceled on Monday. My Monday's are ridiculously long. I start at 9:30 am and go till 10:30 pm. (This is why I hate school!) Anyways, I had my 3 hour class canceled and another class as well. Canceling class on my long day is wonderful :)

Then today I went to my weight training class and because it was raining, I didn't have to run 1.5 miles! Which I was happy about. I did decide to go to the weight room anyways and got my workout on. It is nice to see a change in your body when you are putting forth the effort. I gained a little weight right after getting married and had a super stressful fall semester. I eat to cope with pain or stress. So this semester I am taking weight training and aerobics..it's a lot but it is worth it. I enjoy the stress release I get from working out! That is my advice...stressed? Go for a little jog/walk (I hate running or even fast jogging hahaha) and the stress melts for a little bit and positivity comes back!

I am working on being more positive. I realized that I have become quite a negative person and just overall, very unhappy. I need to work on my emotional well being.

-Prayer requests-
*I am going to UCLA to see a gastro doctor since my gastro doctor here can't figure out why I am in so much pain. Please pray for healing of my body.
*Although I do not know the details, there was a horrible accident at my school today. A trolley hit a girl on her bicycle-actually a girl on a bicycle hit a trolley (how it appears to have happened). Please pray for Julie Farris.
*Any prayer requests for you??

New Beginning

I have been inspired to start a new blog from recent changes in others blogs (Cerissa mostly..). This blog site seems good so I will give it a try!!

Since this is my first post and I am trying to get use to all of it, this will be short :)

School is kicking my butt this semester. I am taking 18 units again. That is quite a load when it comes down to the last two semesters of college. LOTS of upper division and just difficult classes. That is the "joy" of college I guess..I hate it and am ready to be done more than anything! I will be taking summer classes though, which I am not happy about but I want to be out of APU and the sooner, the better!!

I will try to update often and keep you all posted on life here :)
